STATE OF THE ART GARAGE BUILD

Robin and his team took on 4 pieces of work for us – taking down an old conservatory, building a 60m long boundary wall in Cotswold stone, installing a new septic tank and building a state of the art air-conditioned garage on the site of a much smaller dilapidated stable with an adjoining workshop which could house 6 cars and also accommodate a lift system.

I cannot speak highly enough of Robin and his team who were friendly, courteous and professional but also good fun and we actually missed not having them around when the works were complete.

Robin has huge experience and a real eye for detail and is clearly passionate about his work, and we took on board many of his suggestions as the work evolved leaving us with a build which is better that we could have wished for. Robin project managed the works faultlessly as it was not straightforward, and he came with solutions not problems, co-ordinating not just the delivery of materials and equipment, but also took care of some of the more challenging aspects of the build such as liaising with local archaeologists (required by the planners), and arranging temporary traffic lights while the boundary wall was being built.

Robin has great people skills and is a great communicator with a wealth of local knowledge and network of contacts; he was on site every day and kept us fully up to date throughout the project and we cannot recommend RM Smith Construction highly enough, particularly if  for a project that is less than straightforward.

SUPERB CRAFTSMANSHIP

We employed Robin and his team to convert a lovely but very dilapidated 200-year-old stone barn, together with a rather ugly 1950s cowshed, into a stunning residential property and garage.

Robin and his team have been excellent in every way. From the start, the job was set out in detail with each step separately identified and costed. Monthly spreadsheets were sent showing the work done and any variations to the original plan.  Robin alerted us to imminent industry price increases which enabled some materials to be purchased in advance to help minimise costs.

The Team was both professional and fun to work with and they tolerated temperature extremes ranging between -10C to almost +40C! There was a welcome flow of helpful advice and suggestions leading to several improvements as work progressed. The craftmanship was superb and sympathetic to an old building with a beautiful reconstruction of some of the original roof timbers.

We are very pleased indeed with the outcome which has not only rescued a lovely building but has also enhanced the whole area.

EXCELLENT JOB WITH OLD FASHIONED VALUE AND SERVICE

I recently employed Rob and his team to build me a dry stone wall to the front of my Barn conversion.  I was really impressed with the way things were managed.  All the stone was matched to the barn, delivered to site on time and with no fuss. The team started work when they said they would and worked with no excessive stops for meals or, what is a common occurrence nowadays, long texts or phone calls, (really refreshing) until close of play.

The team left things tidy every evening with nothing left lying about to trip over. They were always polite and considerate not only to myself and my wife but my neighbours as well, going so far as to give advice and spare cement to a neighbour to use on repairs to their wall. At the end of the job Rob’s team cleaned everything up and removed all their rubbish.

Rob managed the build professionally and effectively, he explained what would happen and when, without using jargon or unduly complicating what was happening. He was cost effective and the price did not creep. I am really pleased with all that was done. Well done RM Smith Construction.

POLITE, COURTEOUS, SENSITIVE

From start to finish Robin and his team were a pleasure to have here. Polite, courteous, working sensitively around my family's needs, maintaining a safe and tidy site. A number of unforeseeable problems occurred and were dealt with promptly, efficiently and with the minimum of fuss. Any extra cost we were made aware at the time and the build came in on budget and within the specified time.

We are pleased with the standard workmanship of the tradesmen, any issues in this regard was quickly dealt with to our satisfaction.

Robin's management of the build was very efficient, with materials and personnel being where they should be at the right time, ensuring no delays or lost time.

Robin kept us fully informed, very promptly, at all times, throughout the process and I have no hesitation in recommending him to others.

EYE FOR DETAIL

Robin's workforce were diligent, polite and tidy, with a terrific eye for detail.

Working within the budget in some extreme weather conditions, the site was kept tidy and the project was completed on time. What could have been a messy uncomfortable and expensive procedure was minimised by this great construction team.

Many Thanks.

BLUE BOAR REFURBISHMENT

RM Smith Construction built a large extension on to the Blue Boar.  This gave us a new eating area, new bar area, 2 new staff rooms, bathroom, shower room and new kitchens.

From ripping out the kitchens at the start, to helping to put deft touches into the new bar at the end of the job, RM Smith Construction, ably led by the congenial Robin Smith, were absolutely fantastic.  Nothing was too much trouble, the building evolved as we went along and if I changed my mind about something, which I did, they made it happen.  They have a wide range of contacts with ancillary companies for things like flooring and heating.  Furthermore, at the Blue Boar, people who did not know the pub before the works began do not realise there has been an extension, because it dovetails into the old building so sympathetically.

I have no hesitation in recommending RM Smith Construction to anyone seeking a proper and professional job.

ALLINS BARN NEW BUILD

Robin and the team did a great job knocking down and completely rebuilding our house. As this was our first experience with a big building project, we appreciated Robin's flexibility and constructive approach when we came up with changes during the build. The team were hard working and polite, and the quality of the build is exceptional. I have no hesitation in recommending RM Smith Construction.

FLINT BARN RESTORATION

Having had an 18th century brick and Flint barn destroyed by a falling tree. We where looking for a builder who was capable of building with skill and sympathy to replace it. Having searched widely we were recommended to Robin by another builder. His enthusiasm for the project was excellent and the Flint work was completed by him and his team very well. The oak frame was made on site by his skilled carpenters and the whole building fits in well with the existing courtyard of traditional farm buildings.

We would recommend Robin to anyone but especially if your project is a little bit different from the norm.
