CONVERSION, REBUILD

This flint cartshed was in need of total repair after a tree had fallen onto it.  It was converted into a triple oak framed car port and storeroom, with living accommodation on the first floor.

It was rebuilt using all of existing flint and bricks. The property was constructed using traditional lime mortar.  Second hand tiles were sourced for the roof to match surrounding buildings.  The oak beams required to match existing were more difficult to find, but ultimately we sourced and purchased the material from France.

" Having had an 18th century brick and Flint barn destroyed by a falling tree. We where looking for a builder who was capable of building with skill and sympathy to replace it. Having searched widely we were recommended to Robin by another builder. His enthusiasm for the project was excellent and the Flint work was completed by him and his team very well. The oak frame was made on site by his skilled carpenters and the whole building fits in well with the existing courtyard of traditional farm buildings.

We would recommend Robin to anyone but especially if your project is a little bit different from the norm." Tim and Josey Chapman, Woodrows Farm, Aldworth.
